Created attachment 106867 [details]
Screenshot of isssue: Project Monitor is paused, but display is black when it should be showing the video clip in Timeline.

BEHAVIOR
After I import a video clip and left-click it to play in the Clip monitor and press the "Play" button, the video will play (I can hear the audio, and the audio levels indicator and position cursor are working), but the screen is black -- it doesn't display the video. (I'm assuming this has to do with running proprietary Nvidia graphics drivers; I haven't tested on other machines).

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
For playback to show in the Clip and Project monitors as normal.

Hallo,
I have this problem too after update to debian stretch.
Booth 17.04.2-dmo1 (deb-multimedia.org) and 16.12.2-1 (debian/stable) show no video in clipmonitor or projectmonitor.

If I chroot to a debian/jessie on the same computer and use kdenlive 0.9.10-2 from that, the video is O.K. (but sound in chroot is a nother problem :-( )

The hardware is also Nvidia with propritary driver.
It is possible, the new version need some CPU-features (ssse3 sse4.1 sse3) I don't have?

What can I do?
with regards
Andreas

Hallo,

on the same computer kdenlive 16.12.2-1 works fine with debian stretch in a VirtualBox-machine.

And now I updatet from nvidia 375.39 (from scratch) to nvidida-driver 375.66 (from debian-packge) and all works fine in kdenlive 17.04.2-dmo1.

The problem is solved for me.

with regards
Andreas

I can confirm, this problem doesn't seem to exist in current builds/release of either the stable appimage or the timeline-refactoring appimage. Nice!

Closing this bug as resolved/fixed.
