A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. Q: What is the most annoying thing in e-mail? Found on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posting_style Thunderbird also places the cursor at the bottom by default. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reply-above-or-below-quoted-text I agree that there needs to be an option, because the number of people that are used to top-replies is increasing. Bottom posting forces me to scroll past all previous messages, including my own, with ever decreasing ">>>>", to get down to a new message, it makes quickly going through your email much more tedious. There should indeed be an option. I suppose one could by default position the view screen at the bottom... under the settings, see Composer->Standard Templates for each action (like "Reply to Sender" or "Reply to All" you can change the cursor behavior by moving the %CURSOR an %QUOTE where you want resolving Add, thanx, that worked. Not very noob friendly though. I'd still prefer the cursor to be at the top by default. Of course, it is irrelevant wat I prefer, but I strongly believe I'm part of a large majority. |
