By default, Dolphin's information pane doesn't show date modified information; to make this show up, you need to right-click on it, choose Configure, and enable it. Since the Information pane is vertical, there is *plenty* of space to show this information by default, and I think having it do so would be a good idea.

Wouldn't the date also show up in the tooltips? The space there is quite limited...

It does, but I don't have tooltips turned on. I don't think I can agree that the available vertical space in the Information panel is too limited. I've attached a screenshot of a dolphin window that's not very tall and has a very wide Information panel, causing most of its space to be taken up with the preview. Yet there's still plenty of room for the Date Modified information to be shown.

I meant in the tooltips, that's where the space is limited. Granted, we already do have huge tooltips with pictures. Ideally there should be a way to show 'extended' metadata in the information panel (where we have lot of space, scrollbars at worst), but only the most relevant metadata in the tooltips.

Actually, I think the tooltip looks fine with Date Modified added. There's plenty of space for it. See the latest attachment.
