I just had another encounter with some academic who currently uses Windows 7 at home and asked me on my current Plasma installation where she could click to minimize all windows. So +1 to have this button present by default (including the Meta+D keyboard shortcut). Now, that we have the folder view on the desktop by default, it makes even more sense to be able to conveniently reach the desktop by default. While at it, one could also make "Minimize all Windows" (which is currently only available by context menu) the default action of the Show Desktop widget. The current default (which shoves the windows in all four screen corners) makes the windows snap back in situations where is is not appropriate. E.g. click Show Desktop, then right click on desktop, then choose Create New file => 1. The windows snap back (which is unexpected at this point), 2. the New File dialog appears. That sounds like a bug in the Show Desktop effect. Can you file it? The product is Kwin | effects-various. Thanks!
