After removing unrar-free package, and adding unrar package, the Ark does not crash any more, and opens the list of files from the rar. Doing one more test, I created tiny text file (echo "dd" > a), rar-ed it with regular rar, and tried to test/list it with unrar-free, it seemingly worked. Then I tried to actually extract it with unrar-free, and instead of text file an empty folder was created on disk with the "a" name. So the unrar-free (1:0.0.1+cvs20140707-1) looks to be completely useless, more like a trap. Was there working version back then? Will there be? Maybe ark should conflict with unrar-free package, if it's broken like this. Then again, the crash is still happening on Ark side. Uselessness of unrar-free is different topic. Yes, unrar-free is unmantained and we dropped support for it a while ago. Ideally ark shouldn't crash if someone is using it, but honesty I'm not sure whethet that's worth fixing. The best fix here would be removing unrar-free from debian/ubuntu repositories. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 364976 *** |
