Description pho 2017-06-07 06:37:26 UTC
I've been running Konsole on this machine for quite a bit now, but since last update to 17.04.01 Konsole hangs and logs this after inputting [tab][tab] on a freshly opened terminal:

jun 07 08:19:17 dbus-daemon[10902]: Activating service name='org.freedesktop.Notifications'
jun 07 08:20:17 plasma_waitforname[16376]: org.kde.knotifications: WaitForName: Service was not registered within timeout
jun 07 08:20:17 dbus-daemon[10902]: Activated service 'org.freedesktop.Notifications' failed: Process org.freedesktop.Notifications exited with status 1

I am running dwm on this machine, with no DE, and I dont have any notification daemon running which can offer this service, but this has not been a problem until this last update

Installing a notification daemon (ex: dunst) fixes this

IMHO this is the same as bug#380974.
Comment 2 Wolfgang Bauer 2017-06-28 16:27:44 UTC
PS: try to delete /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.kde.plasma.Notifications.service and see if it helps.
Comment 3 Wolfgang Bauer 2017-06-28 20:22:24 UTC
In any case, as I wrote this is definitely the same problem as bug#380974 IMHO.
I'll mark it as duplicate now.

Feel free to reopen or add a comment if you disagree.
Thanks.
