Hello,
I thought it would be great to have an ability to change location of the buttons in Preview mode. For example I would probably move the navigation buttons Previous/Next closer to the Right Panel. See the screenshot:

Please consider.

Maik,

Do you remember why we don't use a standard application tool bar here which can be movable elsewhere over the canvas ?

I'm currently fixing the style sheets for the QPushButton for the pick and the color label Wideget.

A standard toolbar isn't transparent over the image or video and would further minimize the preview window vertically.

The top/left corner of the preview is used because:

1/ Top/Right can show a text status when RAW files are loaded (as embedded preview/ half size preview / full size preview / etc )
2/ Bottom / Right is used to show the rail way. There is a button between the vertical and horizontal scrollbars.
3/ New in 9.0.0 : Bottom /Left show the image properties as with SlideShow. It's customizable in Setup/Albums/View page.

As Maik said, the toolbar is voluntary transparent to render the image in the background and to be not too intrusive (priority to the image).

I close this file now.
