Can you disclose the project so that we can investigate the performance issue? Otherwise we can't really do anything about this. Note that upon opening a project, we will check all project files for updates. This should usually only boil down to a stat and a check against what we have in our database. Only if the cache got corrupted / had to be cleared will this fail and everything needs to be parsed from scratch. The project file manager (custom make file) shouldn't have any influence on this, the caching and so forth happens on the language plugin level beneath.
