Sentry Crash Report:

Description Jeffrey Clymer 2017-05-05 21:41:18 UTC
The program works fine for ATSC standard definition stations, but crashes within a few seconds when I switch to a high definition station with a segmentation fault.

I am using RV610 [Radeon HD 2400 PRO] in a Dell Inspiron computer with Ubuntu 17.04.

Here is the terminal output. In this session I viewed two standard def stations and then a high def station.

It is hard to tell what's happening here without a better log. You also didn't mention if you're using the Open Source driver or the AMD proprietary one.

In any case, that sounds to be a bug with the hardware decoding. You may try to force libVLC to not use VDPAU for decoding. Take a look at Kaffeine's README.md for further details. Take a look at "Remote Access and Kaffeine" section.

Btw, you should take a look on BZ#376893

Mauro,
Thanks for you help on this.

I have checked my receiver with Kaffeine on another Ubuntu system, and it works fine for both standard and hi-def signals.

I also found out that the system that's giving me problems with Kaffeine also has trouble playing DVD's with other software.

So, I don't think the problem is with Kaffeine, but with my video drivers. Sorry to take up your time, and thanks again.

Jeff
