KTorrent should keep its current state when adding a torrent or magnet URI. The current behavior is if KTorrent is minimized or in the background, it pops up after clicking on a magnet and steals focus, then pops up again when the contents of the URI have been cached (i.e. the download dialog).

This gets annoying. Especially if it's an old magnet that takes sometime to find (and the user goes to do something else), or when trying to add multiple torrents/magnets (e.g. a page with 10 magnets, each time I'll have to deal with KTorrent to minimize it, which defeats the purpose of dealing with them all later at once).

So, if the user has KTorrent in the foreground there's no problem if the dialog pops up, because the program is in focus. But if KTorrent is in the background, it should stay like that and not steal focus. Maybe show a task manager notification (a la Dolphin when copying/moving for example) instead.

There is an option to add torrents automatically.

If you do not want this, you probably want to change something before it starts.

Something seems to have changed in recent versions. It used to open the torrent file selection dialog in the background (if ktorrent was in the background) and flashed the ktorrent button on the task bar blue. Then, when I am ready, I could switch to ktorrent and make my selections.

Now (at least as of 5.0.1), ktorrent will steal focus and make itself the active application when the file selection dialog pops up. No application should steal focus and a user should not have to bypass some of the workflow to prevent this from happening.
