I guess Kdenlive could be patched to use VAAPI but Nvidia GPUs would be left unsupported because of VDPAU support only. There is a thing called 'VDPAU backend for VAAPI' but I dont know in what shape it is. Can you please test the latest version and see if you can still reproduce?
