Ok...I reconfigured kdemultimedia did a make clean make and make install=

noatun. Should I have deleted config.cache?

Argh this (arts ;) bug is annoying. Basically you have two conflicting artsds (from different kde installs) and the wrong one is being run. -Charles Ugh. '/usr/bin/artsdsp' et al from 'arts-2.2-11' rpm installed by RedHat 7= .2=20 installer when I specifically specified no kde ( since it was old already )= .=20=20 I didn't think to look anywhere but the prefix path used when compiling.
