media player plasmoid icons inconsistent

When music plays the plasmoid icon is a triangle opposite to what is commonly used for the playing state (the two vertical lines). Also if you click on the plasmoid and open the dropdown the icon there is the two vertical lines. When the player is paused the opposite is happening.

The icon in system tray indicates the current playback status. The button on the other hand switches to whatever status is displayed on the button. Can you perhaps give an example of other players you mentioned.

The thing for me is that when I glance at the system tray and see the two vertical lines I immediately thing that the media player is playing. But it is not.

I did a "scientific" experiment and asked those around me and they thought the music was playing while it was not.

I also tried to do a "survey". I found that generally on linux players that place a system tray icon that displays the playing status (amarok, clementine) do it like plasma does it. On OSx it is the other way around (nimblify, bartunes). On Windows, it is mixed.

The icon that plasma uses is that of a button (a minimized version of the actual button in the dropdown). This is confusing.

I think it boils down to how you perceive the icon, a state signifier or a control element.

So, when all players on linux use the "play" triangle icon, we're good, right?

The icon *is* a status indicator.
