I would love for krita to have an edit button for a brush tip, animated or otherwise.

Pressing this button would open the brushtip inside of krita, making you able to edit the contents,and save over the previous brush tip.

It should probably also offer to save as new,but in an easy way that it auto-selects the correct path for the new brush tip to be added.


the reason for this is ease of use. Much quicker on the fly editing would help so much with brush creation and would reduce time spent.

Quite a bit has changed since this bug was filed, but it still might be valid. You can now open KPP files in Krita and edit the brush tip images that way.

The brush editor itself has more options for saving preset tips including the area for loading images and loading templates to use.

I am not sure if that is good enough for you, or if there is something else that you are thinking.

i like the new settings and they seem solid but it should be ONLY for new brushes

this option dialog should also be possible when pressing "thumbnail edit" or something

The ticket header says "brush tip", but your last comment says thumbnail -- which are two different things.

I am not sure what you are trying to edit, the brush tip or the thumbnail

the brush tip,i wish to have direct control of the brush tip and save as new or overwrite (maybe not default ones ofc)


the thumbnail is a different matter and less needed

It needs a bit of consideration for the new resource system, but from the user point of view it's clear: it needs an "Edit" button in the Predefined Brush Tip area. It should either replace or save new brush tip (note: if Krita saves inside its own resource system, it needs to refresh cache inside Krita so the user can find the new brush tip right away!).
