I can't reproduce with a small example document (taken from http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/261657/embedding-multimedia-videos-on-full-frame-in-beamer-without-any-background) both with 0.26.1 (current Debian testing, kdelibs4-based) and 1.0.70 (compiled from git one or two days ago, Frameworks 5), both with the VLC backend. Does it work if you switch to gstreamer? Does the above example works for you, and if it does, can you provide a minimal example that crashes?
