Sorry for very late answer.
Confirming bug is still present in 17.12 archive.
Note for myself to fix it later: crash is in frei0r emboss.c(168):
stack allocation limited on Windows

I just submitted the simple fix to frei0r maintainers
https://github.com/dyne/frei0r/pull/23
I will include the patch in next Windows archive (18.04.0).
