This is a major issue that I've recently been experiencing with Krita's recent version; the application has been forcing my computer to logoff for no apparent reason. Around 30 minutes into that session, my computer would just black screen and go back to the GLM login manager. I've set it so Krita auto saves every minute.

I'm going to be testing with the 64bit appimage and see if the problems persist.

If it helps, I'm using Manjaro Linux with the GNOME desktop.

Um... I don't see this happening in Gnome on OpenSUSE. I cannot imagine how Krita could make you logout from your desktop. Maybe the windowmanager/desktop crashes? I wonder if this also happens also if you disable opengl in Krita...

⁣ I do see how it could be an issue with my GNOME desktop, and the way Krita interacts. I've only had the issue in Krita; my desktop before did go black for a period. 

As for the an issue with OpenGL, I don't see how it could be as I've had no problems editing in Kdenlive and other OpenGL apps such as CS:GO.

It could be because Krita uses more texture memory than the other applications, if your image is very big. But I haven't seen this happen myself, so it's all guess work, and that's why I want you to disable opengl and see if the issue still occurs.

Oh, and another can be that there's a faulty ram module in your system, and that krita pushes something else into that module, and then the desktop closes. I had that on my dev system with firefox and gcc, which kept crashing. Please also run a memory checker.

If your session is terminated without you wanting it, then the reason is usually a crash of the X11 display server. Please check the end /var/log/Xorg.0.log* files for the termination reason. Most likely, it is a bug in the OpenGL drivers.
