items in folder view widget should show full file name on hover/in tooltip.
i sometimes have several files starting with the same string, which appear already truncated and thus indistinguishable in the folder view -- but even when hovering, the name ist still truncated, rendering the information on hover basically useless for my purposes.

i think, at least on hover the full name shall appear -- if the hover has room for previews, the full name should fit even better (if necessary, break after X chars, but do not truncate).

I can't reproduce this. I renamed a file to "This is a testof a hugely long file name that is probably going to be truncated according to the reporter.jpg" and it's not truncated in the tooltip. Can you add a screenshot?

well, _your_ exmaple has spaces, whereas my file names usually don't.
a file name
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789.txt
is truncated.

Set wrapMode to Text.WrapAnywhere.

Summary:
Means long main texts don't get truncated. One of the main uses
for tooltips is to show full text for things that are truncated
in the usual UI, so this is a bad default.

The fix was in plasma-framework rather than Folder View (it's in the Plasma default tooltip code), so it will come when you update to the next Frameworks release.
