Screenshot where "New To-do" dialog failed to find existing calendar

Korganizer version 5.4.0 very often fails to populate the calendar combo box in Event/To-do/Journal editor. The problem happens randomly but very often and lasts from Korganizer startup until shutdown (that is, until logout from KDE). I've updated Korganizer about a week ago but since then the problem didn't appear only once (and Korganizer worked fine that day until logout).

When the problem appears, I can open e.g. the "New To-do" dialog but the OK button only tells me to "Select a valid collection first" (from an empty combo box). If I try to edit existing To-dos/Events, the edit dialog won't open at all.

Also note that in the attached screenshot, the event details view says "No Item Selected", even though I did select an existing To-do entry. (I've cropped the list of existing events for privacy reasons.)

The calendar I use is a local ICS file in my home directory.

Me too.

Korganizer 5.2.3 (from Kubuntu repo):
KDE Frameworks 5.28.0
Qt 5.6.1 (compilato con 5.6.1)
Il sistema di finestre xcb

Workaround:
 $ akonadictl restart

Same problem here as well, Korganizer 5.2.3 (from Kubuntu repo) and a calendar in ICal Calendar folder.

We did Marco's workaround:
$ akonadictl restart

And then it worked again.

I am having the same problem with korganizer 5.5.3 on Gentoo. "akonadictl restart" fixes it but it later fails again.

Furthermore, the reminder system has stopped working (no pop-up window, no sound).

And it insists in showing dates & times using the US format even though the KDE settings specify the european format, and the "digital clock" in the taskbar does show the time in european format.

Can confirm with 5.7.3. What is a good workaround?

Note:
go to Settings->General->Calendar, select "Personal Calendar" click modify, press OK in the calendar modification window without actually modifying anything. The new calendar may be available for use.
