All you get in the devices panel is what kind of drive it is and how big it is when there is much more info available. A right-click menu entry could easily deliver this kind of "get info" data, as it does in nearly every other OS:

Device type, mount point, free space, file system type, mount options, etc.

If there are many devices they can be difficult to tell apart!

This would indeed be a great feature. I tagged this report as a wish, and hopefully a developer will pick it up at some point. Thanks for reporting!
