My computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad which has no LED indicator lights for NumLock or CapsLock, so very often I have no idea what the status of the keylocks is. GNOME has a extension that pop up notifications when NumLock/CapsLock is switched, hope this will also be included in Plasma5. (I searched System Settings -> Notifications but can't find option for such a notification)

System Settings > Notifications > Accessibility has options to notify on state change of lock keys. Is that what you need?

Thanks for your remind, I didn't find that before. BUT... after I checked "show notification window" here, nothing happened...there's still nothing notifing me when I pressed CapsLock or NumLock.

I just checked, and it doesn't work for me too, even after I logout and login again. Should that be a separate bug report?

No need since I can change the title of this bug.
Now this report has changed from "new function wish" to an actual bug-report.

You need to check the "Plasma notification when changing special/lock keys" and then in the "configure notifications" thing activate "show notification" for "a lock key was enabled" and disabled, then you get a notification. Granted, that's not very good usability-wise. (in the usability kcm, the irony)

I can't find the 'plasma notification when changing special/lock keys'. Where is this option?

System Settings → Desktop Behavior → Accessibility → Modifier keys → Use Plasma's notification mechanism for modifier or locking key state change

Oh thanks. It works now, but this option should also be probably exposed in the Acessibility section of the Notifications KCM. Maybe add some kind of warning if the user tries to enable those notifications without activating the required option in the acessibility KCM?

I think this bug should be closed, as the status is now shown. There is a Keyboard Indicator module for the system tray.
