I'd like to change the selection color of the search line edit field (the one opening with Alt-F2 or Alt-Space).
Whatever I change in the color scheme as "Selection Background" is not reflected in this input field.

Confirmed. When I change to Honeycomb theme, selection in widget-based apps turns yellow whereas in Plasma it becomes gray

use the highlight color for selected text

plasma theme highlight color comes from the text selection
background kcoloscheme, so that's the one coherent with qwidget
based apps
