Sentry Crash Report:

Description Tom Kijas 2016-12-14 09:51:47 UTC
Digikam doesn't show any files, in my Pictures folder I have few pictures in various formats (png, dng, jpeg, tiff...) and Digikam shows none of them.

That makes it unusable.

Neon (Ubuntu 16.04) 64bit.

It's certainly a packaging problem. It's not reproducible here.
Try with Linux universal AppImage bundle available here :

Can you check if problem still exists with this version ?

Thanks in advance

New digiKam 5.7.0 are built with current implementation as pre-release bundles:

Problem still reproducible ?
Comment 6 Jason Straight 2017-12-10 02:29:10 UTC
Yes, with 5.7.0 in neon.

My first attempt to use an existing folder as an album, digikam filled my SSD by going into a loop, creating the same folder within that one, and so on.

For example, I had several levels of /home/junfan/Pictures/Pictures/Pictures/Pictures/....

After that, I moved ~/Pictures and created a new ~/Pictures, deleted ~/.local/share/digikam and ~/.config/digicamrc (?)

When I relaunched and reconfigured (wizard), I dropped a pic in the folder and under the album, in digikam, it added a blank folder. No files visible.

The appimage for 5.8.0 works
Comment 8 caulier.gilles 2017-12-10 06:23:00 UTC
The problem is last Qt 5.9.3 used by digiKam < 5.8.0 which break the album view. We fix the problem in 5.8.0 implementation to be compatible with last Qt release.
