Do you change the icon size in the Configure Dolphin > View Modes settings pages or using the zoom slider? Both. Both with same result. The size does not survive a restart of Dolphin. Actually, nothing is saved done in "settings". Do you have the file ~/.config/dolphinrc ? Can you check if it changes when you change something in the Dolphin settings dialog?
