I get the same behaviour. When I restart KMail without/before restarting akonadi I also get a segFault # Details: $ uname -a Linux kde-2 4.10.0-37-generic #41~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 6 22:42:59 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. I have long abandoned Kmail when its (and Akonadi's) issues with gmail became unbearable, I have no current installation of Kmail anymore.
A status of "Abandoned" would be appropriate, but I don't think it exists.
