In all scite based editors you can duplicate the current line with the shortcut "CTRL+D". It would be really great if you can implement a corresponding feature in kate to duplicate a line...

Ctrl+Alt+Up or Ctrl+Alt+Down

You can also re-assign the action to the short-cut of your liking, but Ctrl-D is now used for commenting-out the selection or current line
