If I have a dozen video clips, and a dozen audio clips, then I can quite easily put them all on a pair of tracks. However, it is very time consuming to "set audio reference, wait, align to reference, wait" for each pair. It would be awesome to be able to select them all and have kdenlive align the audio for all the pairs that are (roughly) vertically aligned.

This is already implemented since the 20.12 series iirc. You set an audio reference and select all the clips you want aligned and apply the action. Please test and let us know if it works as expected. Do reopen if you encounter any issues. Thanks for reporting.
