debugview file, drawing with graphics tablet

Hi there,
my graphics tablet is Medion P82018, and the problem is a lack of pressure sensitivity. I installed Wintab_x32_1.0.0.20, actualized all Windows 7 (32 bit) updates on my computer, installed and deinstalled again the Photoshop cc trial, but nothing works.
Truth be told, I don't know if Krita supports (recognizes) Medion tablets at all. It would be a pity, because I came to like Krita even more than Gimp (there, the pressure sensitivity works, but the settings become unstable when I have to use the mouse in between).
I've attached a dbview file of my drawing attempts in Krita for you to check out.

No -- the wintab dll isn't loaded at all. At least, that's what it looks like. The latest daily build, https://ci.appveyor.com/project/alvinhochun/krita-packaging/build/artifacts, has some more debugging info; you could try that, but to me it looks like the driver is just not accessible.

After downloading and unpacking the files, I guess I should simply run the contained krita.exe, right? It doesn't run, probably because it's the 64 bit version, while I have win 7 32 bit - or so Windows says. The Krita I installed first is 32 bit too.
Do you have some 32 bit build still?
Assuming that the driver is just not accessible, as you said, I'll deinstall and reinstall the wintab driver as well.

Yes, 32 bits builds are available.

Fine - where can I find them?

Should Krita itself contain a wintab32.dll or does it try to access it from the system? If so, should I put this library somewhere into the Windows folder? As yet, it sits just in a separate folder together with the WinTab_Setup_x32.exe and the DHid.dll.

wintab32.dll (the 64 bit version is also called wintab32.dll, btw, to distinguish it from the original 16 bits wintab.dll) should be installed in the Windows system directory when you install the driver. If the installer doesn't put it there, it's not installed and Krita won't be able to open the library.

Ok, I made a mistake. The Wintab32.dll IS in the Windows/System 32 directory as well as the DHid.dll, but - it was a wintab driver for Surface Pro I got. The only one I found for win 7 is on the website of Lenovo. I downloaded and installed that one now, but it created a separate Driver folder in the Windows directory, and Krita obviously still can't find it.
Now please help me, because I'm in the dark about such matters:
Shall I deinstall the first (wrong?) wintab32.dll first and how? It doesn't appear in the control panel deinstallion tool. Or simply delete it?
And shall I install the Lenovo wintab driver once more, changing target directory to Windows / System 32?

I don't know... I would remove all wintab32.dll files from your computer, then reboot, then make sure that the installer has correctly installed the wintab32.dll to the correct place. In the meantime, this doesn't fall in the category "krita bugs", I think, so I'm closing this issue.
Comment 8 anno reed 2016-10-27 16:14:32 UTC
I understand that the issue is possibly not a Krita bug.
However to manage the wintab installation correctly, I must know where exactly Krita is searching for this dll. I would much appreciate it if you could tell me just this.

In the default Windows system location. c:\windows\system32 for 32 bits windows systems, c:\windows\sysWOW64 for 64 bits windows systems: this is not something about Krita, it's how Windows works.

Thank you nonetheless for your efforts!
