Krita opens normally and allows you to open an existing file or start a new canvas but you are unable to use the new layer/duplicate/move layer up/down/ect buttons nor the zoom slider beneath that. The icons for the buttons are there but they do not highlight like the tool bar buttons when you hover over them and you cannot click on them. Uninstalling/reinstalling the program didn't solve the problem and while the keyboard shortcuts seem to all still work (= to zoom in, - to zoom out, ect) the buttons are just easier to use for myself.

I cannot explain this, it's not something that we've encountered before. Could you please try to reset the configuration (uninstall/reinstall doesn't do that): https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#Resetting_Krita_configuration

That seems to have worked! Thank you! Hopefully that's all it needed and the problem won't arise again.
