This problem may be related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368069 but seems slightly different:

When my Kubuntu desktop is running, text messages (Samsung Galaxy Note 4 running Android 6.0.1 using the default Message app and KDE Connect 4.8) will appear on my Kubuntu desktop (12.04 LTS) but not in my Message app (no notification on the phone, no record of the message in the list of messages in the app).

For now, I have turned off "Notification Sync" and "Telephony notifier" in KDE Connect.  I suspect that "Telephony notifier" is intercepting the inbound messages before the default application sees them, but I have no experience with KDE Connect's code.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Pair phone and desktop
2. Receive text message
3. See text message notification and message on desktop but not on phone

Actual Results:  
I only receive texts on my desktop when the desktop is running; the phone never alerts me to the arrival of a message, and there is no record of the message on the phone.

Expected Results:  
I should see a notification on both my phone and my desktop, and the messages should appear in my phone's message log.

It's been a long time until now and I seems never have notice such a problem with my Samsung S8 + openSUSE Tumbleweed. Are you still bothered with this issue?

I have not tested it, recently, but revisiting this bug report makes be wonder if KDE Connect is responsible for some other odd SMS behaviours, especially missed messages (even though "Notification Sync" and "Telephony notifier" are turned off).  I will make a note to test it, and I will report back.

Thanks. And I have never encountered a missed message myself unless I do not know it's missing :)
