So if you start for example Autostart from dashboard:

shortcut for this "action" appears in recent applications as a blank shortcut, see

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start some settings-shortcut from dashboard 
2.open dashboard another time
3.blank

In Plasma 5.8 still not fixed. Empty buttons are only for settings actions in dashboard!

Can confirm, still not working in 5.8.1. Also these empty shortcuts can not be removed individually. Right-clicking them does not provide context menu. The only way to get rid of them is to remove all recent applications.

It was fixed, but I forgot to merge it in 5.8. It will be in Plasma 5.8.2. Sorry for the delay :(
