I have some apps like Steam or single games windows set to disable compositor when they run. This works pretty good. The only small issue is that when i close such app, compositor is restored but panel shadow is missing. To bring it back i have to toggle desktop effects ALT + SHIFT + F12.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure some app to disable compositor when running.
2. Run app
3. Close app

Actual Results:
Panel shadow is missing after compositor was restored.

Expected Results:
Panel shadow should be rendered after compositor ws enabled again.

I have the same issue and use the same workaround. Also running KDE Neon Dev. Stable, Plasma 5.8.1.

Can't confirm - shadow is restoring in:

Distribution: KDE neon Developer Edition - Stable Branches
Plasma: 5.11.3
Frameworks: 5.41.0
Qt: 5.9.2
Kernel 4.10.0-40-generic
Type: 64-bit

There's been a few commits since 5.8.

Please reopen if you still have this on 5.10 or newer.
