The search bar do not work correctly. When I type a program name the result is nothing.

Under which distribution?
What program?
Can you check that "appstreamcli search <yourprogram>" works?

I have same Problem here, I'm using discover from Debian Stretch amd64 (2.1.2-7). Some packages can be found. Don't see a pattern there.
For example libreoffice can not be found.
