Description J. Daffodil 2016-08-31 22:10:54 UTC
When I disable compositing, my panel and any additional widgets on my desktop no longer update. They display what was there when compositing is first turned off until I restart. The clock will keep whatever time it was, the taskbar whatever windows were open, etc.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Disable compositing

Actual Results:
Panels/widgets no longer update

Expected Results:
Panels/widgets updating

I'm not entirely sure if this needs to be a separate bug from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361692 which appears to be the same issue but it's under plasmashell's clock, or https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362955 which says it's limited to auto-suspending compositing, whereas I can trigger it with Alt+Shift+F12.

Possibly relevant specs:

Nvidia 970, 367.35 proprietary driver
openSUSE Leap 42.1, kernel 4.1.27
Plasma 5.5.5
Two monitors

I've seen this issue fairly consistently for a few years. The only constants have been openSUSE, using an Nvidia GPU, using the Nvidia driver, and possibly a multi-monitor setup. Different versions, different cards hasn't mattered.

Sounds the same.
