I find very useful a button which shows desktop grid effect using following command:

qdbus org.kde.kglobalaccel /component/kwin org.kde.kglobalaccel.Component.invokeShortcut ShowDesktopGrid

I think it would be nice to have widget which implements this and maybe other similar features, so other users can have such button too without experimenting with DBUS.

It should be same as "Show Desktop" widget, but with different effect.

Agreed. Plasma's desktop grid must be its nicest undiscovered feature. I can never even remember what it's called. For Googlers, I'll add some of the keywords I was trying to use to find Josef's qdbus command:

KDE Plasma exposé workspaces overview add remove desktop widget grid

There is a 3rd-party widget that includes this functionality: https://store.kde.org/p/1181039/

We're considering making it a part of Plasma itself (i.e. 1st party, not 3rd-party): https://phabricator.kde.org/T11776
