Attachments: hide buttons when multiple packages are selected

Description KDE Neon user 2016-08-11 12:26:07 UTC
Despite multiple selection, just a single item is marked to be purged.

Muon Version 5.6.0
KDE Neon 5.7 (user edition)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Filter packages by status -> residual configuration
2. Select everything
3. Click on "purge"

Actual Results:
A single item is marked to be purged.

Expected Results:
All selected items should be marked.

This is a tricky problem with the UI design. The list of packages allows multiple selection, but the details section shows only one package at a time. The buttons you refer to are inside the details section, and only affect the package shown. Otoh, the right-click menu in the package list affects all selected packages.
In a certain way, it makes sense the way it is. And I don't see a better way.

1. move the buttons to the toolbar
2. hide the list when showing package details
3. do not show details when multiple packages are selected
4. show something like "you have 7 selected packages" next to the buttons and affect them all
5. remove the buttons altogether (like synaptic)

hide buttons when multiple packages are selected

By looking at the source code it was clear that the buttons were meant to be hidden when more than one package is selected. The attached patch fixes it as intended. This would be solution 5. listed in comment 1.
I'm not pushing it yet because there might be a better solution.

@Justin

I'm sorry, but I'm currently not using Linux. Please follow to instructions I've provided. It takes just a minute to follow the steps.

Muon is no longer maintained, please switch no a supported alternative like https://apps.kde.org/discover/ or the package manager native no your system.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
