I found this bug too. Archlinux package, version 5.1.0. I can confirm this bug. Every time I start KTorrent the columsn are reset and as I removed extra columns an empty one is added. Same here, using: KTorrent 5.1.0 Fedora 28 Kernel 4.16.15-300.fc28.x86_64 KDE Plasma 5.12.5 KDE Frameworks 5.46.0 Qt 5.10.1 I can't confirm this bug with ktorrent 5.1.1 on Arch linux.
