Interesting, but needs more debug symbols. OK. I hear what you're saying: I'll install the openSUSE debuginfo packages and wait for the next Segmentation fault signal. --- Given the missing symbols in this crash report and also given that I'll need to find the core file before resubmitting with the missing symbol information, it may be better to close this report and wait for the next Segmentation fault. added backtrace...
i know this is a recurring crash, this on usually pops up on a new installed system when you click a button on the taskbar (like "check updates" button)
this is a opensuse bug so i alo will report it on bugzilla (opensuse)

Unfortunately that backtrace also lacks a lot of symbols, e.g. Qt's :( this is on leap 15, I've installed plasma(5) debug-info and debug-source packages but back-trace isn't perfect... i will try to add a better one... I'm no longer using openSUSE Leap 42.1 and the KDE/Qt versions mentioned in this bug report. Given the current versions being used by openSUSE Leap 42.3, I can no longer provide anything useful for this bug report and, since upgrading to newer versions, I haven't experienced this crash again: Current versions: plasmashell 5.8.7 Qt: 5.6.2 KDE Frameworks: 5.32.0 Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been in NEEDSINFO status with no change for at least 15 days. Please provide the requested information as soon as possible and set the bug status as REPORTED. Due to regular bug tracker maintenance, if the bug is still in NEEDSINFO status with no change in 30 days, the bug will be closed as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME due to lack of needed information. For more information about our bug triaging procedures please read the wiki located here: https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Bug_triaging If you have already provided the requested information, please set the bug status as REPORTED so that the KDE team knows that the bug is ready to be confirmed. Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone! Currently running: Qt: 5.9.4 KDE Frameworks: 5.45.0 plasmashell 5.12.6 As indicated in Comment #6 dated February this year, I can no longer provide the trace information for the (July 2016) version which provoked the Segmentation Fault … ---------------- Segmentation faults: Valgrind?
