Hi Rupert,

The (main) issue is not actually that mplayer2 is not found, but a syntax error in your database file. This could happen for a number of reasons outside KPhotoAlbums control, but in case that KPhotoAlbum is to blame, could you tell me:

a. Did kphotoalbum crash during saving?
b. Did you recently upgrade kphotoalbum from an older version? If yes, do you know which one?
c. What is the file version of the most recent index.xml backup?
To determine this, open the zip archive "index.xml~XXXX~.zip" (where XXXX is some number) with the highest number and open the contained index.xml~XXXX~ file in a text editor. The second line should be something like '<KPhotoAlbum version="7" compressed="1">' - can you post the exact line, please?

As for solving your immediate problem:
There is a syntax error in your index.xml file in line 13422.
1. Rename the file "index.xml" in your image directory to "index.xml.broken"
2. Unpack the most recent backup zip-file (see above) and rename the contained file "index.xml~XXXX~" to "index.xml"
3. Start kphotoalbum. Does the error occur again?
4. Does the occur again after saving the database and restarting kphotoalbum?

As for the other issues:
- Please report the missing translation to your distribution bugtracker.
- Do you have mplayer2 installed and is the executable file called "mplayer2"?
I don't know about kubuntu, but here on debian I have the same problem because the exexutable for mplayer2 was renamed to "mplayer" without the "2". In that case, you can safely ignore the warning about mplayer2 not being found.

     No, Did not start.
 b.  Haben Sie kürzlich ein Upgrade von einer älteren Version kphotoalbum? Wenn ja, wissen Sie, welche?
     Bestimmt. Da System neu aufgesetzt.
 c. What is the file version of the most recent index.xml backup?
     <KPhotoAlbum version="3" compressed="0">
    Es war aber mindestens 4.1.1 in Benutzung.

Danke für die Hinweise. Ich habe im index.xml einige "description=" editiert. Es waren Sonderzeichen vorhanden. Start von kphotoalbum funktionierte danach wieder.

mplayer2 als mplayer vorhanden. Ich ignoriere das im Folgenden.
