I also confirm this bug. I have updated to fedora 24 yesterday, which has KMail 5.2.2 on KDE 5.23. I use breeze-dark. I have tried replacing the mail-mark-unread / mail-mark-unread-new icons from the oxygen theme but it's not apparently taken into account or i'm replacing the wrong one. It makes the icon itself invisible and the mail count unreadable. It would be good to have a non-transparent "envelope" for the dark theme so that the icon contrasts with the black tray background. Kmail tray notification icon
I have the same problem with Kmail tray notification icon when Breeze Dark is set as desktop theme and Breeze (light) is set as window theme. Icon is transparent when new mail arrives and appears when mouse is over - screenshot attached. Plasma 5.9 Kmail 5.4.1 issue has regressed further. now, the unread count has disappeared entirely, but this is not the biggest issue. The icon is completely invisible on a dark panel and barely visible when you hover over it. See attached screenshots. Created attachment 104266 [details]

openSUSE Tumbleweed Plasma 5.9.3 Kmail 16.12.3 Theme: Breeze-Dark The same bug that is described above. It exists since the icon was changed to a new one. I wait three months (or even more) until you fix it =) Just to confirm; also present on: Kubuntu 17.04 Zesty Plasma 5.10.1 Kde Frameworks 5.34.0 Kmail 5.4.3 KDE PIM 16.12.3 Theme: Breeze-Light (everything default) The same bug that is described above. Icon changes but no count for unread email. Icon email-count disappeared after upgrading to PIM 16.12.3 and plasma 5.10.1 from backports. Created attachment 106102 [details]
