Hello All,

I have a question, is there an existing applet or workround for controlling the state of the touchpad ? As I am used to using the Trackpoint on the Thinkpads and the touchpad should be disabled.

In the Settings -> Input Devices -> Touchpad, there is only the option to turn off the touchpad if the mouse is plugged in.

Can you please help me with this ?

Reproducible: Always

There is the touchpad applet - you can add/enable them in system tray or in the desktop as regular applets.
In addition, touchpad can be enabled/disabled using global short cut key. You can configure it in "System Settings → Input Devices → Touchpad → Enable/Disable Touchpad → Keyboard shortcuts".
