Description Sourish Basu 2016-06-21 04:13:20 UTC
In my konsole, I have edited the current profile (Settings -> Edit current profile -> Terminal Size) to set a terminal size of 150 x 40. Also in Setttings -> Configure konsole -> General, I have disabled "Use current window size on next startup". As a results, when I start a new konsole process (either by hitting Alt+F2 then typing "konsole" or selecting from the K menu), it opens a 150 x 40 window, which is what I want.

However, if I have a running konsole process, and I want to open a new window either by selecting File -> New Window or hitting Ctrl+Shift+N, the new window is always 133 x 33. I can open as many new windows I like this way, they are always 133 x 33, and not 150 x 40, the size I want.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set a konsole size of 150 x 40 in Settings -> Edit Current Profile -> Terminal Size.
2. Disable "Use current window size on next startup" in Settings -> Configure Konsole -> General.
3. Start a new konsole process by either Alt+F2, then typing 'konsole' (on KDE), or selecting from the K menu.
4. Open a new window either by Ctrl+Shift+N or File -> New Window.
5. Compare the size of the new window with the existing one.

Actual Results:
The original konsole window is 150x40. The new konsole window is 133x33.

Expected Results:
The new konsole window should also be 150x40.

I am running Konsole 2.13.2 on KDE 4.13.3 in Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS.

Hi, I'm from the Bugsquad team and we are triaging bugs on Konsole today.
Thanks for reporting the bug.

Application Version: 17.12.3
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.44.0
Qt Version: 5.9.5

I followed the steps to reproduce your issue and it worked as expected.
It still happens on your system?

I had filed this more than two years ago. In the meantime, I've updated to Ubuntu 18.04, which does not have this bug. I don't know if it still exists in 14.04.

Thanks for the feedback Sourish!
I will leave this as RESOLVED because it's rare it will occur again.
On the mean time, we should wait a developer to see the bug and decide on its status.
