Plasma 5.7 ships a fully rewritten Task Manager backend, eliminating problems like this: https://blogs.kde.org/2016/05/31/new-plasma-task-manager-backend-faster-better-wayland |
When sorting of the task manager is set to "by desktop" and grouping is enabled ("only when taskbar is full" *not* ticked) windows are not sorted by desktop at all. Instead the new applications are sorted to the end of the taskbar... I explicitly have to open the task manager settings and change the sorting order to alphabetically, save and change it back to "by desktop" to get the desktop sorting to get the *already open* applications be sorted by desktop... Happens *every time* I start any application, it gets sorted to the end of the taskbar... This doesn NOT happen when I choose to group applications "only when taskbar is full"... so obviously grouping by application without the restriction "only when taskbar is full" disables the "by desktop" sorting. Reproducible: Always
