What brand of tablet do you have? Does https://krita.org/item/anatomy-of-a-bug-fix/ sound relevant?
Comment 2 Errjune 2016-06-06 05:34:46 UTC
I use Wacom Cintiq. Also, I forgot to mention the canvas size. Crash occurs in A4, A5, and A6 canvas. Sometimes crashes in normal crash like 1980x1080 whilst using brush tool.

Log file of crash in Krita Gemini

The bug was produced in Krita Gemini V:3.0 (git f0cbffc)
Comment 5 Halla Rempt 2016-06-07 08:41:22 UTC
Is this while screen recording the session? I've got a cintiq myself and even when using obs, everything is fine, so I haven't been able to reproduce this :-( I also see move events, but they are mouse events, which suggests that Krita doesn't even see the cintiq as a tablet.
Comment 6 Errjune 2016-06-09 03:36:35 UTC
No, not whilst screen recording. I think I will uninstall and install krita again. Thanks for the reply Boude :)
Comment 7 wolthera 2016-06-09 10:20:03 UTC
Uhm, if you want to reset the settings, reinstalling krita won't help much, this will: https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#Resetting_Krita_configuration
Comment 8 Errjune 2016-06-22 06:57:20 UTC
Hi, sorry for the late comment. But, it seems I figured out the root cause of the crash. It was the brush bundles from 2.9. After deleting those bundles, Krita 3.0 works fantastic.
Comment 9 Halla Rempt 2016-06-22 11:10:33 UTC
Hm, could you attach those bundles to the bug so we can test? There shouldn't be crashes because of old resource bundles!
Comment 10 Errjune 2016-06-22 12:51:21 UTC
I think you're right. It worked fine all day, but just after rebooting my computer, Krita started to crash. Now, I've uninstalled 3.0 and installed 2.9. 2.9 works fine.

Krita 3.0 log file

Hi can you once again check the log file please. Thanks.
Comment 12 Halla Rempt 2016-06-30 06:16:44 UTC
The crash actually looks like happening in something called thumbnailcache which is called when a file dialog opens, not when drawing. Did you press ctrl-s to save or something like that?
Comment 13 Errjune 2016-06-30 06:26:43 UTC
Yes I always use ctrl + S to save. So what can we do to prevent the crash?

What I meant is -- is that when you get the crash? Not while drawing, but when calling up the file dialog for saving? If that's the case, then the problem is in some windows shell extension that you have installed. Can you check whether you've got the Krita shell extension for showing thumbnails of .kra files installed?
Comment 16 Errjune 2016-06-30 10:21:26 UTC
As far as I know, the crash occurs randomly. Not while saving, or when calling up the file dialog for saving.

Hi, just an update! Good news and bad news.
First, bad news. I found three unusual files in program files>Krita (x64)>bin. After deleting those files, Krita didn't crash like before while using brush tool, but crashed when I tried to draw with the line tool (Not the first try but after multiple tries) Here is the event log of crash, if this helps:

Faulting application name: krita.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000409
Faulting module name: Qt5Core.dll, version: 5.6.0.0, time stamp: 0x66bdf060

Report Id: 3729c195-a4a4-402e-a2ed-408ced28bda0
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

Good news is that I created a new user account. And Krita 3.0 doesn't crash in the new account whatsoever. I tried to create a crash/bug for an hour. It simply works fantastic.
Thanks :)

Line tool crash
Comment 19 Halla Rempt 2016-07-01 10:06:45 UTC
Hi,

Do you remember what those files were? The log for the line tool crash still shows something weird happening when windows opens the file dialog in the thumbnail cache:

00006002	164.25920105	[10612] shell\comdlg32\fileopensave.cpp(9456)\COMDLG32.dll!76BD0750: (caller: 76BC3458) ReturnHr[PreRelease](1) tid(1904) 80070490 Element not found.
00006003	164.25920105	[10612] CallContext:[\PickerModalLoop\InitDialog\FileDialogInitEnterpriseData]
00006004	164.26266479	[10612] shell\ext\thumbnailcache\lib\thumbcacheapi.cpp(243)\thumbcache.dll!725DDFD9: (caller: 725DE191) ReturnHr[PreRelease](14) tid(221c) 8004B203

But if with a different user, Krita seems to work fine, it must be a local issue, not something that we can fix.

It won't let me draw on the canvas. The canvas opens, but my brushes and mouse won't even show up. I can't draw on existing canvases either.
