As per summary, if a font does not have a particular character, KCharselect shows it anyway... not sure where it gets it from. But it makes font evaluation difficult, since you are never sure if what you are seeing is actually in the font or not. 
Fontforge does a better job in this regard, but it's overkill for selecting a character.

Actual Results:  
Seeing things that are not there.

Expected Results:  
Only see characters actually in the font. Could be like Fontforge and show thumbnails or ghosts of missing characters.
