search for applications does not show any result despite the program(s) are in the list, so I have just to scroll manually and install the program or do it with terminal

Can you please elaborate a bit? What were you searching for?

Hi Aleix,

just tried a search again and now it is working. (searching for example  
VLC)
I installed yesterday also Ubuntu Software Center, may be this was  
unblocking whatever file blocked.
In case of another change I will keep you informed.
