which version are you using?

2.9.11
Comment 4 wolthera 2016-05-07 21:48:48 UTC
Try to see whether you can open them in the latest 3.0 beta that you can download from the news posts on krita.org. We fixed quite a few bugs there.

Otherwise, you can always try to rename the file from a .kra to a .zip, en then get out 'mergedimage.png', you'll lose your layers, but not your drawing. (Do tell us if it doesn't work with the 3.0 beta either though, that's a pretty serious problem)
Comment 5 Halla Rempt 2016-05-08 10:42:29 UTC
Can you attach the file so we can check what's up?
Comment 6 gedgepaul 2016-05-08 10:59:32 UTC

> Can you attach the file so we can check what's up?

Unable to attach it as it is a .kra file so is too big and the bug prevents me from opening it so i cant convert it to jpeg or another image format.
Comment 7 gedgepaul 2016-05-08 11:16:57 UTC
Managed to remove the merged image from the file and hopefully will be able to use it , it the .kra file does not work on the beta version so what ever was wrong with it has not been fixed, I will attempt to make a copy of the merged image and put it back in the relevant file which i have changed to a .zip file, if successful i will then attach the zip file to this bug report.

Appologies for the double comment , apparently double clicking twice causes your comment to be a copied , that or i pressed something i shouldn't have,,,,
Comment 10 gedgepaul 2016-05-08 11:22:21 UTC
The file is still to large , even in compressed format....
Comment 11 Halla Rempt 2016-05-08 15:01:52 UTC
Aw, then please mail it to boud@kde.org, or share a dropbox link or something with me?
Comment 12 Halla Rempt 2016-05-14 09:10:10 UTC
I'm sorry, without the file I cannot do anything about this bug report.
Comment 13 victoria.ren64 2016-11-22 08:50:54 UTC
I also experience the same problems as the people below. My file "C:/Users/Victoria/AppData/Local/Temp/.krita-5604-document_0-autosave.kra" will not load, even if I've restarted my computer and closed and re-opened Krita multiple times.

I would like to know what the problem is and why it is causing this. I have read some articles in an attempt to recover the files, all leading to no success.

Please help me. It would be really appreciated if you do so. Thank you.

This has been sorted, I simply downloaded the newer version and
worked on replacing what I had lost.

May you send me a link to the newest version (if you want, I don't want to push you)? If you can, it would be greatly appreciated!

Also another problem would be that the file would not show up anywhere in my saved files, whilst the majority of other files would be saved, autosaved or not.

If I am able, I will send a copy of the file once I return home from
sixth form.

But I simply did as suggested with the .kra file and turned
it to .Jpeg and worked on re doing the stuff I lost on the
newer version of Krita, which seems to have fixed the issue as I
have yet to have the same problem again with anything else.

I have installed the newest version of Krita and I tried to upload the file up there, but it still isn't loading. Do you think the file may be damaged?

In addition to that, after the file fails to load, the program crashes immediately.

I have stopped making use of your software now and have since moved on to
making use of a different software for producing digital artwork.
