Description a.c.denth 2016-04-17 19:34:44 UTC
On a recent update of Plasma 5 the LeaveView icons changed from this:
http://postimg.org/image/ldk6nkh8x/
to this
http://postimg.org/image/grn3ou5v7/
.

I wanted to change back to the old icon set but I'm unable to do that. I tried to replace the system.svgz icon set in "/usr/share/plasma/desktoptheme/default/icons" but that didn't affect the LeavView at all.

So it seems that these Icons are hard coded into the binaries and unmodifiable.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Replace "/usr/share/plasma/desktoptheme/default/icons/system.svgz" with old monochrome version.
2. Reboot/Restart plasma
3. Open Kickoff menu and choose LeaveView

Actual Results:
Icons inside the LeaveView doesn't represent the contents in the "system.svgz" file.

Expected Results:
Icons inside the LeaveView should come from the contents of the "system.svgz" file, or at least be changeable somehow.

The icon set comes from Plasma 5.3.2 or from the "Breeze Classic" theme at
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=174360

I'm using the "Breeze-dark" theme.

The icons in Kickoff come from the Breeze icon theme, not the Plasma theme, iirc

This bug will be hard to reproduce. After fiddling with different themes I somehow managed to get Plasma to use the contents of that svgz file. I could try and see if I change the contents of that file, if it will update.

You're most likely correct that the icons are part of a Theme, not sure now whether it was Breeze or Arquetype (nowadays it is denoted as Arquetype Classic it seems). But the question is; what is reading those themes?
Comment 3 Kai Uwe Broulik 2016-04-21 21:19:27 UTC
Oh, when you're fiddling with Plasma svgz files, you probably want to clear its icon cache (all the plasma files in ~/.cache) or else it will continue using the old ones

Closing as not a bug.
We definitely load them from the theme.

Might be what Kai said.
