Sentry Crash Report:

Description Jens 2016-04-06 17:18:04 UTC
A small usability issue:

When dropping a list of images onto an album / tag / ... and using small album icons (16x16), it is not often easy to see which the drop target is - depending on the mouse cursor and icon size.

During a drop operation (while the mouse button is still pressed) the drop target (e.g. album name) currently below the mouse cursor should be shaded (or otherwise highlighted).

Is this maybe possible for 5.x?

Reproducible: Always

Can you reproduce the problem using digiKam Linux AppImage bundle ? The last
bundle is available at this url:

Yes. There is no indication as to where the images will actually be dropped. I would expect a background shading or border around the drop target while hovering over each target so you can see where images will be copied / moved before you release the mouse button.

I just tested the current master branch state, which is also the current AppImage bundle version (5.4). I set the album icon size to 16. When selecting multiple images and hovering them over some album in the album tree view (and also tags tree view), there is a shade, though it is not really strong.
It is not that easy to see with the default design.

Which design do you use (main menu entry Settings->Design).
I switched to ShadeOfGrey where the contrast is better.

Can you test this?

I cannot reproduce it.

Oops, correct. The german translation hit me.
Comment 6 Jens 2016-12-22 12:28:07 UTC
Can't reproduce on OS X with any color theme. No hover border visible here.
Comment 7 Jens 2017-02-11 15:12:28 UTC
Drop target is still not visible (current 5.5 appimage on Linux 64bit). I tested all "designs" (color themes, available from the settings menu) that are available.

Any progress here, anything I can do to help?
Thanks!

digiKam 7.0.0 stable release is now published:

We need a fresh feedback on this file using this version.

No shading visible in current Appimage 7.9.0 as of 2022-10-12 (and also -02) with either FusionGray or ShadeOfGray themes.

See "Version Fixed in:", only from digiKam-8.0.0.
