Chat windows contains not text fields at all, only toolbar and menu. The next error displays in notification:
"org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Error.NotAvailable: Handler no longer available"

 After clicking "history" it crashes.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

If you're using Qt-5.6.x, then this should already be fixed

(at least the empty ktp-text-ui symptom, but the crash may be fixed by this too)

IMO this is fixed by the referenced commit https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=ktp-text-ui.git&a=commit&h=5015460c6fbd9696bf482e53e7cb94b64097db12 and then fixed again by commit in TelepathyQt:

Feel free to reopen if the bug is still there after both fixes applied.
